Korea Gas Safety Corporation Holds 2026 Safety Management Seminar for Large-Scale Gas Storage Facilities and Buried Pipelines

The Korea Gas Safety Corporation (President & CEO Gyurnggoog Bahk, hereinafter referred to as KGS) announced that it held the “2026 Safety Management Seminar for Large-Scale Gas Storage Facilities and Buried Pipelines” at Sono Belle Jeju on September 3, with approximately 100 safety professionals working with large-scale gas storage facilities and buried pipelines in attendance.

The seminar has been held annually since 2014 to improve safety management practices and strengthen accident prevention systems among major operators of large-scale gas storage facilities and buried pipelines in Korea.

This year, KGS integrated the previously separate events for large-scale gas storage facilities and buried pipelines, creating a broader forum for communication and technical exchange on safety management issues across different types of facilities.

The seminar featured five presentations, including one on regulatory improvements for medium-pressure city gas pipelines. KGS also presented seven President’s Commendations to individuals recognized for their contributions to safety management.

In his opening remarks, Hong-chul Kim, Executive Director, Gas Technology at KGS, emphasized the need for proactive safety management through rigorous routine inspections and diagnostics, noting that accidents involving large-scale gas storage facilities and buried pipelines could result in significant loss of life and property.

He also expressed hope that the seminar would provide a forum for KGS and industry operators to share safety management experience and technical information, while contributing to higher standards of safety management and accident prevention at large-scale gas storage facilities and buried pipelines.
